The Colorado Avalanche drafted in 2011 what they hope will be a strong cornerstone for the future of their franchise with their first round selections of forward Gabriel Landeskog and defenseman Duncan Siemens.  While Landeskog has shown signs of becoming the player that many thought he would be when he was drafted, Siemens has struggled this season to maintain the strong showing he had in his draft year.
